"Dona Nobis Pacem" , 'Grant Us Peace' !

Hello everyone Thank You so much for coming by today. I signed up for this blogblast on the 19th of Oct after being invited by Mimi Lenox , the great woman that started this 7 years ago.
I am always trying to promote Peace and hoping to add a little Peace to the world every day .
As it turns out, peace has as many definitions as it does emotions and images.
Peace, as defined by the
Merriam-Webster dictionary:
1. a state of tranquility or quiet
2. freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions
3. harmony in personal relations
4. a state or period of mutual concord between governments; a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity
5. used interjectional to ask for silence or calm or as a greeting or farewell {which I do daily}
I decided to add some important quotes to me and hope they touch your heart too.

We must come to see that peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek,
but a means by which we arrive at that goal.
We must pursue peaceful ends through peaceful means. –Martin Luther King, Jr.

When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace. –Jimi Hendrix

Peace is not the absence of war; it is a virtue; a state of mind; a disposition for benevolence; confidence; and justice. –Baruch Spinoza

The practice of peace and reconciliation is one of the most vital and artistic of human actions. –Thich Nhat Hanh

One is left with the horrible feeling now that war settles nothing;
that to win a war is as disastrous as to lose one. –Agatha Christie

You can’t shake hands with a clenched fist. –Indira GandhiRead

Now for a poem a friend shared with me I just added pictures

getting ready for Peace GlobeBlogblast

I was proud to be caught trying to spread Peace . They gave me a badge for it .

Just 5 more days till 100's of folks start turning their blogs and Facebook full of Peace globes .

BlogBlast For Peace ~ Dona Nobis Pacem

Bloggers will unite in a global cry for peace in this annual event. One day. One voice. All it takes is one post. Won't you join us?
BlogBlast For Peace is an online community of international bloggers who "blog for peace". The first BlogBlast For Peace was held November 7, 2006. The peace globe posts spread from blog to blog to blog and became an online annual movement with thousands now participating. There are currently 50 countries involved in the project. People from all walks of life, all political and religious affiliations and beliefs lay aside their differences for one day.
It is inspirational. It is empowering. It is moving.
With respect for diversity and individual expression, peace bloggers embrace the essence of community. It has truly become a "revolution of words."

Dona nobis pacem - Latin for "grant us peace" - is displayed on peace globes available on the event coordinator's blog. Bloggers from all over the world write inspiring posts on the subject of peace, all titled with the Latin phrase, and display the globe graphic. BlogBlast For Peace is a way to get involved, a way to have a voice, an opportunity to speak out. If you would like to share in the vision for global peace, please join us. Fly a peace globe, write a post, learn about your neighbor across the continent, on the other side of the world, or even next door. Around a global table of peacemakers....anything is possible.

Thirty-three official wars and conflicts plague our planet. It is time we stand together to promote the cause of peace. On November 4, 2010 we will speak with one voice, one subject, one day.
All it takes is one post.

If words are powerful....then this matters.
Please don't miss it.

Blogblast for Peace "Dona Nobis Pacem"

Blogblast for Peace  "Dona Nobis Pacem " is coming up on the 7th year .
Let's make this the Lucky 7. If you don't have a blog , You can still help spread the word of Peace.
You can add a Globe to Your profile on Facebook or just hit share on every globe you see.
Below is Mimi's website address , you can find all the information there.
She is the creator of this cool event.
On her blog she says,"Let our words start the flood of permanent peace."
"If we believe that words are powerful.....then this matters."

These were put together very well , I hope they touch Your heart as it has mine. Please share with others too. Peace

Last year hundreds of bloggers from 50 different countries took part Blogblast for Peace. ~~~~~~~~~~
There still is time to join us. :-) Get your Peace Globe templates for 2010 here:

this video was made by Crow's Feet
She wrote : All good mothers understand that children need to claim responsibility for their own actions in order to grow up to be responsible adults. Good mothers know that pointing a finger and saying, “It’s their fault” or “He/She made me do it” never solves anything. Good mothers teach their children concepts like sharing, being considerate of others and good manners. What a different world this would be if countries acted more like mothers and less like global powers.

Peace alludes us when we chase after it because it never was out “there”. Just as creation of life starts within, the responsibility of creating Peace starts within each and every one of us.

Then there is this cool one i found from last year too.

Well I will leave You with these and a wish for Peace in Your life.

How to grow passion flowers / Passiflora incarnata/Maypop

Passiflora incarnata, commonly known as May-pop, Purple passionflower, True passionflower, Wild apricot, and Wild passion vine, is a fast growing perennial vine with climbing or trailing stems.
The Maypops are a common roadside weed, found throughout many areas of the Southeastern United States where it often grows in large masses in ditches and open fields.
This is a subtropical representative of this mostly tropical family. However, unlike the more tropical cousins, this particular species is hardy enough to withstand the cold down to -4°F (-20°C) before its roots die (it is native as far north as Pennsylvania and has been cultivated as far north as Boston and Chicago.)
It enjoys some popularity as a native plant with edible fruit and few pests.
It grows natively in all parts of the Americas.
Hardy in USDA zones 5 through 9 and thrives in full sun to partial shade exposure. The vines can easily grow up to 15 feet in a season. Flowers from July - September with fruiting following bloom and ripening in the late summer and fall.
Grow it on a fence or trellis, or simply allow it to scramble harmlessly over your shrubs and trees. It is a speedy growing, flowering and fruiting vine that uses tendrils to climb and spread.

The fleshy fruit, also called a Maypop, is an oval yellowish berry about the size of a hen egg; it is green at first, but then becomes orange as it matures. .

The History of the Passion Flower

Passiflora incarnata derived the early common name of Maypop from the way it just seems to 'Pop' out of the ground in May.
Maypops were eventually renamed as the Passion Flower by missionaries in the early 1500s.
The missionaries believed (or professed) that several parts of the plant, including the petals, rays, and sepals, symbolized features of the crucifixion of Christ.
Regardless of what you choose to call the Passiflora incarnata vine, these 3 inch diameter flowers are very unique and beautiful.

How to grow from seeds
Seed germination, sowing instructions for Passion flower. Passiflora incarnata is easy to grow from seeds.
Evergreen, fast growing climber. Pre-soak seed overnight in warm water. Best sowing time is winter or early spring. Germination can take several months! Prick out the seedlings into individual pots when they are large enough to handle. If you want to grow your plants outdoors, it is best to keep them in the house/greenhouse for their first winter and plant them out into their permanent positions in late spring, after the last expected frosts. Passiflora prefers a moist but well drained soil, and sunny location. Hardy to about -15 degrees C. To overwinter outdoors, cut down to the ground and mulch the roots well in late autumn to protect them from the cold.

As with other passifloras, it is the larval food of a number of butterfly species, including the Zebra longwing and Gulf Fritillary .
Here are some pretty pictures of it from my friend Laura .

How to Make and Grab a Button for Bloggers

I did it Laaaaaa... and You can too.

How to Make and Grab a Button

I am not an expert , I just made it my goal to Try to learn 1 new thing for my blog a week.
Now I have decided to start sharing my experience with my fellow bloggers .
Hopefully then they will not have to struggle to put info together as I have. Truthfully I must say "The Help Button is my best friend some times"
What I will try to do here is tell you how I have learned to do things. I'm sure there are other ways and even better ways.
I have sure spent a lot of time sifting through a lot of TECHY stuff I could not understand.
Please feel free to share by leaving a comment if You know an easier way or If you know How to do Other blogs this way? Like WordPress.
My experience is with blogger, although I imagine the other blogging sites are  close to this. These directions worked  for Blogger.

To Grab a button:

    * copy the html code from the button you want , (Example the code under my button on the right.)
    * open your blogger account and choose "layout" or Design as they call it now.
    * click "add a gadget"
    * choose "html" and you'll get a blank box
    * paste the code you have copied in the box
    * click save

That's it! The new button should be on your blog. Go ahead, give it a try with mine. :-)
If you would like to see how mine would look on You blog gadget look at my other blog to see it.
(Got to make a button for it now!?)

Now to make Your OWN button.
Now to make Your OWN button.

to actually make your own button, you'll need a photo program like Picasa , they have a free one at Google . It works great. You can even add words to your picture like I did.

a standard square button size is 125 x 125, so when you open a new document (the picture), set the canvas size to 125 x 125 pixels .
If you can not figure this out. Wait to size it at your photo website. I used the thumbnail size on the grab the link..
put your images and text on the button in the Photo Program
save as a gif (jpeg is generally used for photos, but will work &amp; some sites will ask for it specifically) I reduced mine to thumbnail size on Picasaweb
save your image on a website like
    * Now that your Button is made ...

Here's how To put a "grab our button" on your blog:
copy the following html code at end of the blog .

You may want to copy and paste the code to wordpad ,so you can work on it first. That is How I did it. Then take away all spaces make sure there are No spaces in the HTML (other than in the name of blog as in my example) to make this work?

 * change My information to Your information- the url of the blog, the name of the blog, and the link to your image. (You'll need to go back to Picasaweb
or wherever you saved your image and get the direct link code.)
Here is an example highlighted (highlight may make it Not work proper  so copy and paste the one at the end of the blog to be safe.)(
Highlighted : green is url of the blog ; orange is Name ; blue is photo link.
<div align="center"> <a href="" target="_blank"><img alt="Terica&#39;sFlowerImpressions" src="" /></a> </div> <div align="center"> <form><textarea rows="6" cols="20"><a href="" target="_blank"><img alt="Terica&#39;sFlowerImpressions" src="" /></a></textarea></form> </div>

Now that you have your code . Copy it so You can Paste ....
Open your blogger account and choose "layout" or Design
    * click "add a gadget"
  * choose "html" and you'll get a blank box
    * paste the code you have copied in the box
    * click save , Now go check it out! Then come back and let me know You have one and I will paste it here too!

If you have trouble with this make sure there are no spaces in the HTML (other than in the name of blog as in my example)
If You have trouble leave a comment and I can try to help.
Good Luck and Happy Blogging !
<div align="center"> <a href="" target="_blank"><img alt="Terica&#39;sFlowerImpressions" src="" /></a> </div> <div align="center"> <form><textarea rows="6" cols="20"><a href="" target="_blank"><img alt="Terica&#39;sFlowerImpressions" src="" /></a></textarea></form> </div>
